Taste of London brings with it a cultural and culinary celebration of all that’s great about the London food and drinks scene. Perfect for all avid foodies and drinks connoisseurs or even for those that just appreciate good food and enjoy dining out. Here the finest of London’s restaurants serve up the very best their menus have to offer. This melting pot of the London restaurant scene is one way to sample endless amounts of food proudly being dished up and all without the need of booking months in advance or queuing outside for hours for coverted tables. The choices are endless and include personal favourites Kricket, Hoppers, Bombay Bustle and Barrafina as well as the much celebrated Duddell’s and El Pastor; you can’t make a wrong choice…other than to eat ahead of arriving!
It’s not all eating until you burst either. Taste of London also hosts a plethora of artisan producers who share the fruits of their labour whilst celebrity and renowned chefs partake in the festivities too. There’s plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and ideas with a full roster of presentations and classes available from cocktail making, butchery, wine tasting and pretty much anything else you can think of that’s food related.
This year Celebrity Cruises excitedly offered a ‘taste’ of what’s to come with the launch of their brand new ship “Edge’ which will set sail this December. I’ve previously written all about the incredible features and modernity of ‘Edge’ on the website (there’s a link below for anyone who missed it). Collaborating closely with both Patricia Urquiola and Kelly Hoppen on the design of ‘Edge’ means that the culinary offering needed to match the high-end and very much considered design of what’s set to be an incredibly luxurious ship, and they haven’t disappointed. At this Summer’s Taste of London event, Celebrity Cruises shared numerous tastings of what to expect on board and enabling punters to sample a series of dishes and wine pairings which too will be served on board in the speciality restaurants when the ship sets sail this December. Octopus carpaccio, homemade on board pastas, sea bass ceviche, lamb tagine, smoked trout, grilled strip steak and lavender roasted salmon were just some of the dishes being shared, drawing favourites from some of the world’s most championed cuisines. From Cyprus to Tuscany via the Mediterranean and beyond, there’s exciting and new dining experiences to be had on board. The menus are diverse and celebrates exciting lesser known dishes as well as much loved classics. All are meticulously executed and offer an exciting taster of what will be offered from the 29 onboard restaurants all headed up by Michelin Starred chef Cornelius Gallagher.
When it comes to wines, Celebrity Cruises has paid significant attention to their wine pairings and have worked alongside The Wine Show to bring authentic and unusual pairings pulled from one of the largest and rarest wine collections at sea. Both delicate and robust wines are served alongside the tasting menu, which offered an impressive and interesting collaboration of flavours.
This was one event not to be missed but don’t worry if you did; the whole event will be back again in November and the best of London’s restaurant scene will yet again be showcasing the very best they have on offer.
Celebrity ‘Edge’ will also be making its maiden voyage come the end of the year and I can’t wait to see this extravagant coming together of style, incredible food and wine and boundary pushing architecture never before seen at sea. This modern and exciting way to holiday looks like it’s been completely revolutionised… Follow the link HERE for more details.
